Begin with a panoramic view from over 10,000 feet above sea level at the top of world famous Haleakala Crater in the Haleakala National Park. After enjoying a continental breakfast and the majestic Haleakala views, you will be taken by van to the Haleakala National Park's gate (6,500 feet elevation) where you will start your bike ride, cruising down the mountain, guided by an experienced bike tour guide and followed by your van (for added safety). This 26-mile Maui downhill bike ride on paved roads, only requires about 400 yards of peddling! For those wanting to capture these exquisite views along the way, not to worry, as stops will be made just for picture taking.
As you coast down on your downhill bike adventure, you will enjoy many unforgettable views of the islands of Hawaii, Kahoolawe and Lanai, not to mention the famous Molokini Crater, pineapple and sugarcane fields, which are stretched across the land and play an important role in Maui's society, and other exquisite crops like the Hawaiian protea flowers, orchids, mango, papaya, avocado, macadamia nut, guava, lychee, coconut, wild coffee trees, and many other exotic plants and flowers. You'll also ride through the historic old cowboy town of Makawao, where the first Paniolos (Hawaiian Cowboys) settled in, during the early 1920s, when cattle was introduced to the islands. A no-host lunch and rest stop will take place upon the end of your bike ride, in Paia, a fun and quirky town that in the 70s hosted our pineapple plantation workers and now is considered Maui's hippie town, where you are bound to see some great Paia characters.
