A time of your life is waiting for you once you embark on the Calypso Catamaran, Maui's newest and only power triple-deck catamaran featuring two water-slides, an incredible glass-bottom viewing room, plenty of shaded area, a spacious upstairs deck, and easy access into and out of the water.
You will meet your friendly and knowledgeable crew at the Maalaea Harbor. Once you depart Maalaea, on your way to your first snorkeling site, you will enjoy a view of the entire south Maui coast. While on your way, you will also enjoy a continental style breakfast featuring pastries, fresh tropical fruits, juice, and coffee. Keep your eyes open for whale sightings which are very common during our Maui whale season (December through April).
Most participants on this awesome Molokini snorkel adventure have either little or no snorkeling experience. For those passengers, a free snorkeling lesson will be available. Please keep in mind our waters are not just warm, but the saltwater makes it fairly easy to float. Regardless, flotation devices like noodles, boogie boards, and vests are available. All snorkeling gear, as well as flotation devices, are included at no extra cost.
Molokini was formed from ancient volcanic eruptions. The crater is an extinct partial cinder cone that has formed into an atoll. It now serves as a State Marine Life and Bird Conservation District. This makes Molokini prime snorkeling territory with over 250 fish species. Some of these tropical fish can be found nowhere else on Earth. The inner waters of Molokini's crescent shape offers graded semi-shallow waters perfect for snorkeling and boast an average of 100 feet of visibility. A mid morning snack of veggies and dip will be served.
Your next stop will be Turtle Town, or also known as Turtle Arches, which actually refers to a beautiful area on the outer reef of Maluaka Beach, an awesome snorkeling site! You will experience calm blue waters filled with fish, corals and marine life, namely Hawaii's beloved Hawaiian green sea turtles. Located just south of Wailea, at the end of Makena Road, this popular snorkeling site is secluded from the trade winds and adds the "icing on the cake" of your unforgettable ocean adventure.
By then you will have worked up an appetite and will be ready for your lunch! Also included are sodas, juice, bottled water, and coffee. Beer and Mai-Tais are also available for purchase ($2 each).
Just when you thought your adventure was complete, your captain will take you to a beautiful journey further south beyond Makena beach in search of our year around residents, the Hawaiian spinner dolphins. Lately this tour has seen these playful creatures so often they started calling the tour the dolphin quest. After your dolphin search, you will head back to Maalaea and should be back on dry land by 1:00 pm.
